Development Through Theatrical Arts Education
Provided with the appropriate tools, children can integrate their minds, voice, and body with their emotional, social, and academic growth through the lens of art. Arts Education can be a child's primary tool for sense-making and can be used to integrate their intuitive brains with their digital brains. We can also take steps toward dispelling the belief that some children are science-minded, and some are artsy. The polarization and value assessment of a child's talents, interests, and proclivities within the educational system have produced devastating effects for some children, making it difficult for some individuals to balance the natural tendency of exploration and the pressure to declare a focus of study at a young age. Over the last fifteen years, I have been refining a process that uses theatrical arts as the catalyst for integrating a child's emotional intelligence (EQ) into their whole body and life. Our work helps the child make connections between their internal state and the external environment. Kids Act Out holds strongly to the idea that one's environment is a life-long and vital relationship. It is imperative that a child know how to successfully negotiate their surroundings and interpersonal relationships if they are to become adults capable of achieving their goals and understanding themselves and the world they are in.
